MORE AND MORE

OK so it would seem that we are fighting a futile battle to stop SB 798. As of 7-5-11 it will be back up for reconsideration with the safety comity. I hope they continue to stand by there previous votes... and change a couple minds. I don't think I need to remind everyone what is at stake here. Save for our basic freedoms. If this bill passes it would be detrimental to the entire airsoft community and industry. As  you know most of the airsoft industry is located in southern California, and if this bill were to pass it could be the end of these companies.

These are companies that we all use like airsplat, evike, airsoft gi, airsoft mega store, Jag Precision, Spartan imports and many more. Just with the companies that I listed it could mean millions in tax revenue gone from California. Not to even think how many thousands of employees it would put out of work. It is wrong to let this bill pass. So everyone do what you can sigh those petitions, call your congressman, contact the governor. And stop SB 798.

This could mean the end of airsoft as we know it. MilSim will never work again, this picture was taken at a So Cal airsoft event to prove a point. Please do not let this happen, continue to put up a fight and tell California Law makers that you want to keep your airsoft the way it is.

If You're Under 18: I have been a paintball (or airsoft) player for ________ years, and I feel that bill SB798 will dramatically change the sport that I love. I wanted to recommend that you please vote to reject or amend SB798.

If You're Over 18: I am a voter and have been a paintball (or airsoft) player for _______ years, and I am concerned that bill SB798 will dramatically change the sport that I love. I wanted to ask you to please vote to reject or amend SB798. As a voter I will be suggesting this same course of action to my friends and family so that they too may speak up against the bill.
If You Reach a Voicemail: Read your chosen statement above and close the message by saying “I would like someone to
call me back before June 14th so that I will know that my opinion has been heard and understood. Thank you for your time.”

If you Reach a Live Person: Read your chosen statement above, and be prepared to answer any return questions that the representative on the other line my have. Here are two examples:
Question: Why are you against the bill? Answer:The bill is written in a way that it would have a massive negative effect on the sport. Requiring that all guns be brightly colored will take away from the fantasy experience of the game. Note: If you or someone you give this letter to works at a paintball/airsoft company, mention that your own job is at risk, along with the jobs of thousands of other industry members.
Question: Why is coloring the guns such a problem?
Answer: I have already invested a considerable amount of time and money into my personal equipment, plus
requiring them to be brightly colored will make the game less enjoyable as it will take away considerably from the
fantasy aspect of the sport.

Harder and harder!

Right now we need to try harder to get the message out. Unfortunately there are still some people who don't understand the importance of airsoft safety. Today alone i have read 5 different across the country about people trying to use airsoft guns in a crime. This has to stop! It is incidents like this that put a black mark on the face of airsoft. Even today i was driving and i saw a group of kids playing with airsoft. Innocent enough... yes! however they were not using eye protection, and they were running around there neighborhood in the streets shooting across the street at each other. I just hope they did not injure any one passing buy. But fortunately I had my gear in the car and i stopped and talked to them. I showed them how to treat airsoft guns. And what is supposed to be used for protection.

In the end they all learned something and they all received passes to the local airsoft field. This way they know where they can play and what needs to happen. I also spoke with the supervising parents and gave them plenty of information about No ON SB798. I hope this will help the fight to stop De Leon's stupid idiotic bill from passing. please remember we have to teach people how to stop the stupidity. And educate the kids on what id proper airsoft safety.

Remember safety is the key.

COME TOGETHER!!

So in these turbulent times we need to come together to continue to spread the education of airsoft and how to enjoy the sport safely. With SB 798 we had all the major airsoft companies come together. This is something we have never seen. There are so many times that there is conflict between these companies. And that is normal it is competition, but the people in the community need to come together to make the sort stronger. So everyone be strong and spread the word. We may have won the most recent battle for SB798, but if we do not stay diligent and fight for this we will end up with a ruined sport. Watch below and see how we all came together for the right reasons.

SB 798

So the most recent issue in the world of airsoft and safety as of late has been SB 798 this is a senate bill that would make is so all airsoft or replica firearms sold in California be 90% clear or neon colored. Just try to think Nerf guns. WOW! This bill was written by Senator De Leon. This has to be one of the most irresponsible bills I have ever heard of. They are trying to pass this bill due to a few uneducated kids in the state that dont follow basic safety information or rules.

The main case I am referring to "now mind you i don't have the actual police reports this is what i got from the report that i read on another site"  There was a 13 year old kid running around on a public street at night with very low light, waving an airsoft gun around. Right there we have a problem. It is night you are out on the street with airsoft guns. HMMM!!! what do you think happened next...

That's right the police were called case someone reported seeing a kid with a gun. Which I do not blame that person, if I see a kid running around with a gun at night and i can not tell it is an airsoft i am going to make the same call to protect myself and my family. Anyway the cops came upon the kid and told him to drop the gun and put his hands up. Now I don't know about you but when that happens to me I listen. Not this kid he turned around with the gun and looked to be drawing it on the cops. What did the cops do?

They shot the poor kid, now I do not have definets on weather he was killed or injured. But there a some things that could have prevented this.
1. Parents, had the parents of this child been doing the right thing and making sure they know where there kid is maybe he wouldn't be out on the street waving a gun around.
2. Falls on the parents again. They should have been teaching there child how to properly handle a weapon.
3. The kid! If he had any form of common sense he would not have been out at night waving a gun around, furthermore he was given a direct order to drop the weapon and he did not.
4. The police. Yes the police have some fault in this as they could have used less lethal force like a rubber bullet, bean bag, or a tazer.
The issue here is one problem caused the next. It all goes back to the parents.

This bill is supported by some heavy hitters in the state especially in the southern California, The mayor of LA. The Chief of Police and other city officials. The problem with them supporting this bill is it is a cop killer bill. The idea is to make and airsoft gun brightly colored so they can easily tell that they are a replica gun. The only problem with that is then all we have to do is paint a real gun and then a cop gets shot cause he thought it was a replica or an airsoft gun. Something does not add up.

Another bad part of this bill is how much it will effect the California economy. A vast majority of the airsoft industry are located in California like:
http://www.airsplat.com/
http://www.airsoftpost.com/
http://airsoftgi.com/
http://www.airsoftextreme.com/content01/
and
http://www.spartanimports.com/store/
to name a few. I dont think the lawmakers realize how many employees these companies have and may put out of work. Furthermore look at the loss in tax revenue the state would loose in this bill. This bill is a loose loose situation,

Over the past few months these airsoft companies and many others that were not named here, have banded together like never before to out a stop to this bill. Organizing raleys and petitions, writing there local district government officials. And they even did a buss to the capitol to be there for the safety hearing. De Leon knew the opposition for this was growing and it appeared that he did everything he could to prevent the opposition from being there at the hearing. By moving the date a few times and making the bus date move, but we stayed vigilant and we still showed up.

The Hearing was held on 6-21-11 and it was shot down by a majority vote of 4-3 against the bill. Now it would appear that we have won this fight. But in all honesty they can start it right back up again to make our sport history as we know it. This is the time to stay vigilant and prove to the Lawmakers that airsoft is a sport that needs to stay the way it is and we don't need our guns to be a neon color.  So remember NO ON SB798!!!!
